The EP is described by Cunningham as a collaborative country-tinged homage to his upbringing in rural West Kentucky–as well as those who grew up around him. While his previous album Heart Pressure was the product of self-described introspection, the material on the new EP Cunningham credits to the lives and stories of others.
“I essentially grew up in a country song–yet pretty much shunned country music altogether until my early 20s,” says Cunningham. “I was the kid wearing the Nirvana t-shirt in high school. But the older I got–and the more I gravitated towards country/americana music–I looked back and realized the most humorous, inspiring and heart-wrenching stories were those of the very people who helped raise me. And just because they farm or work in factories and don’t play in a band doesn’t mean their stories shouldn’t be told–so I’ve tried doing it for them. Hopefully, I came close to doing it justice.”
Details of the band’s actual ‘CD release show’ are to be announced in the upcoming weeks–so fans are encouraged to keep tuning into www.lukecunninghammusic.com and www.facebook.com/lukecunninghamsongs to get all the latest info!
